SmartBlock – AI Blocker — by Max Energic

Effective date: April 10, 2026  |  Last updated: April 10, 2026

1. Introduction

Max Energic ("we", "us", or "our") built the SmartBlock – AI Blocker application (the "App") as a free, ad-supported application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have regarding your data.

Key commitment: Your personal data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information — including contacts, call logs, phone numbers, or SMS messages — to any external server or third party.

2. Information the App Accesses

The App requires certain Android permissions to provide its core functionality: call blocking, caller ID, spam detection, and spam reporting. Below is a complete list of permissions and how each is used.

Permission Purpose
Call Screening Service (BIND_SCREENING_SERVICE) Core functionality. Screens incoming calls and blocks unwanted calls based on your blacklist rules, pattern matching, and unknown-caller settings. This is the primary purpose of the App.
Read Contacts (READ_CONTACTS) Used for the Caller ID feature: identifies incoming callers by matching phone numbers against your device contacts to display the caller's name and photo. Also used to distinguish known contacts from unknown numbers for spam blocking.
Phone State (READ_PHONE_STATE) Detects when a call ends so the App can prompt you to report the caller as spam. This enables the after-call spam reporting feature.
Receive SMS (RECEIVE_SMS) Intercepts incoming SMS messages to check against your blacklist. If the sender matches a blocked number, the SMS is silently blocked. This is the SMS spam blocking feature.
Read SMS (READ_SMS) Used in conjunction with RECEIVE_SMS to read the sender information of incoming messages for blacklist matching.
Send SMS (SEND_SMS) Used for the optional Auto-Reply feature. When enabled by you, the App sends a customizable text message to blocked callers. This feature is off by default and requires your explicit opt-in.
Make Calls (CALL_PHONE) Allows you to call back numbers from the blocked history or blacklist directly within the App.
Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) Used for the Caller ID overlay feature: displays caller information, name, and spam warnings as a floating card when an incoming call arrives.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) Shows notifications when calls are blocked and displays the blocking status in the notification bar.
Biometric (USE_BIOMETRIC) Optional App Lock feature. Secures the App with fingerprint or face authentication.
Internet (INTERNET) Used solely for displaying advertisements via Google AdMob. No personal data is transmitted by the App itself.

3. Data Storage

All data created by the App is stored locally on your device in the App's private storage area:

None of this data is transmitted to any server. We have no access to your data. When you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is automatically deleted by the Android system.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

To be explicitly clear, the App does not:

5. Third-Party Services

Google AdMob

The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Google may collect certain device information and advertising identifiers as described in the Google Privacy Policy. This data collection is managed by Google, not by us.

Google Play Services

The App uses Google Play Services for ads delivery. Google Play Services may collect usage data as described in the Google Privacy Policy.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take the necessary actions.

7. Data Security

All App data is stored in Android's private application storage, which is sandboxed and inaccessible to other applications. The optional App Lock feature provides an additional layer of biometric security. Since no data is transmitted over the internet by the App itself, there is no risk of data interception during transmission.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
